National election the branch is in the process of setting up a phone bank for the 2008 election.  We will need at least 20 volunteers.  Please contact your steward or the secretary to sign up.

CONTRACT CASH PAYMENTS!!!!!
President Young has announced that the $686 COLA LUMP SUM will be paid in the paycheck of 19 OCT 07, and that the back pay for active letter carriers arising from the 1.4% UNION WON pay hike for the period from 25 NOV 06 until 28 SEP 07 will show up in checks on 30 NOV 07.  BOTH PAYMENTS WILL BE IN YOUR
REGULAR PAY CHECK ON THOSE DAYS.

DISCARDING DELIVERABLE MAIL......DON'T DO IT ! ! !
Probably the most basic rule of working here is that you don't throw away good mail.  All mail must be processed correctly.  This includes  bringing undeliverable bulk mail back to the office and wasting it properly.
THE BEST ADVICE WE AS A UNION CAN GIVE TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE DOING ANYTHING WRONG OR ILLEGAL IS TO STOP NOW.  IF YOU KNOW ANYONE DOING THIS, TELL THEM TO STOP IT NOW, OR TELL A UNION REP TO TALK TO THEM.
Its not worth losing your job and livlihood over something like this, and there are some offenses that, no matter how good your representation is, the chances of winning a case like this are slim. Again, don't do it.

REMEMBER TO SIGN UP FOR COLCPE.  The reason we were able to get a tenative agreement in part was because when the Postmaster General Jack Potter and his crew went calling on Congress with their anti-worker agenda of Contract Routes and other anti-labor legislation, they were met with blank stares and outright hostility from our friends in Congress that our COLCPE contributions supported.  THE STRUGGLE HAS ONLY BEGUN.....SIGN UP FOR COLCPE TODAY!!!!!!!!!

In Solidarity,  Bill
